Description
We're looking for a hands-on Payroll & Benefits Administrator for an ASE member who has run payroll from start to finish and takes pride in getting it right every time. You'll own our payroll function, administer 401(k) and benefit programs, and be a trusted, friendly point of contact for employees when they have questions about their pay, leave, or benefits.
Job Duties:
- Run day-to-day payroll, including timely paychecks, withholding deposits, and payroll accounting
- Process garnishments, employment verifications, and medical support orders
- Manage weekly timekeeping: confirm employees have entered accurate time and that all hours are booked correctly in the accounting system
- Review weekly HR input and new hire entries for accuracy
- Perform balancing and reconciliation procedures to keep the payroll system accurate, and help Finance reconcile general ledger payroll accounts and make corrections
- Process employee travel expense reports
- Administer the company 401(k) Savings Plan and selected welfare benefit plans, coordinating with employees, management, and benefit providers
- Manage sick leave programs, including FMLA: coordinate requests, ensure federal and state compliance, track usage, and keep employees and managers informed
- Handle Educational Assistance requests, including employee agreements, tuition receipts for reimbursement, and university invoices for payment
- Provide documents and analytical schedules to government and independent auditors
- Implement, update, and test payroll software changes with minimal supervision, partnering with other departments as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with coursework in finance or human resources, or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience processing payroll and administering benefits
- A strong analytical mindset and sharp attention to detail
- Initiative and self-direction: you see what needs to be done and do it
- Experience with UKG payroll system and/or SAP preferred
